Popped by the Chrysler Museum tonight to check out “Out in Silence,” and the Rothko exhibit. This was my favorite. 
The red is swallowing the black, as though defying the nature of life to explode in place then recede into the shadows. In this painting, I’m reminded of the friendships and relationships I share with the people in my life, and though they’re not always easy, new life is created without a doubt. It is beautiful.
